Positioning Mode

You can turn on/off the Positioning Mode by checking/unchecking it in the View menu or by pressing/releasing the button on the Editor Modes toolbar.

The Positioning Mode helps to set up any container's position and size in a simple and intuitive way. You can size and position any container just by dragging and sizing it with your mouse.

You can work simultaneously with many containers. To select multiple containers, hold the Shift key and select the containers you need.

When you work with multiple containers simultaneously several commands are available to assist in the sizing and positioning steps.

To access these commands you need to right-click one of the selected containers. The context menu will appear:

Using this menu you can move and size the whole selected group of containers.

The first 4 commands serve to move the selected group, pixel by pixel up, down, right or left.

The second 3 commands serve to align horizontally every container in the group, based upon the first selected container:

  1. Align the left sides of all containers with the left side of the first selected container.
  2. Center all containers horizontally, based upon the position of the first selected container.
  3. Align the right sides of all containers with the right side of the first selected container.

The next 3 commands serve to align vertically every container in the group, based upon the first selected container:

  1. Align the top of all containers with the top of the first selected container.
  2. Center all containers vertically, based upon the position of the first selected container.
  3. Align the bottom of all containers with the bottom of the first selected container.

The last 3 commands serve to call the Align, Size and Scale dialogs. See The Align Dialog, The Size Dialog and The Scale Dialog for additional information.
